  • Beautiful, relaxing, stirring

I only came accross this album by chance when searching for Ben Whishaw, as I fell in love with his reading voice when watching 'Bright Star.' I'm so glad I did. Whishaw's two poems are wonderful, but I'd give preference to dulce et decorum est, which was simply brilliant. Other highlights for me were Antony Head's 'Remember me' and 'On the balcony' and others by martin shaw and miriam margoyles. If only there were more albums like this, with more great readers lending their voices to recorded poetry! The music selected also worked well and makes the whole experience less 'academic' in feel

Excellent cd. Nice to hear poetry read with thought, compassion and feeling, a very welcome change from music.
  • For Autumn Alone...

Ben Whishaw's soulful rendition of For Autumn is reason alone to buy this fantastic collection of poetry.

This is possibly the most astounding thing I've heard for a long time, but it works. Outstanding stuff brought bang uo to date and given fresh life by some of the most recognisable of voices. Brian Cox rendition of Burns 'A Red, Red Rose' is merit enough for my purchase but indulge your litterary emotional self and let your imagination enjoy.
