  • Rare perfection!

For a band to make an album as beautiful, ambitious and intricate as Dog Man Star is rare, but to make its artistic twin roughly 20 years later is unheard of. I like almost everything Suede have done but am genuinely shocked that they have created a masterpiece as strong as this.

Wow. This is an amazing album. My favourite suede album ever. A wonderful soundscape that stirs emotions and the soul. Thank you, just what I needed. Best album I’ve heard in years!

Always been a huge Suede fan they’ve pulled it off again with another great album although this one took some more getting used to but that’s not a bad thing

Having not bought a Suede album for over 20 years, this is a "non-fan" review. I was so impressed with the Life is Golden single and video I decided to take a punt for the whole album and was not disappointed. The quality of the song writing is evident from a band that are comfortable in the own skin. The musiacianship is very tight; lovely melodies, changes, orchestral sweeps and powerful lyrics. Its good to see that the age of writing an album rather than just track by track downloads is still very much alive. Highly recommended.

The Blue Hour is the Sgt Pepper of the Alternative Indie Rock scene. Whatever that is. The Revolver of British guitar music. Not only is it epic theatre dancing with the spirits of the grim dark forces that simmer through the British counties, it contains the bands finest ever performances. Peerless musicianship, classic lyrics and Brett Anderson's biggest and most revealing vocal deliveries to date. You hear the man's bleeding soul absolutely sing in the standout single Life is Golden. Here they transcend the dank beauty of their first two albums and mid career missteps to transform now into the ultimate Suede. And the guitars. My God, the guitars. Utterly sumptuous. No one else can make a record like this. Not only is this Suede's greatest album even slaying the mighty Dog Man Star, The Blue Hour is the greatest album to come out of the UK in a generation.
  • Restrained and poetic masterpiece

All the languid parts of their best albums brought together under one woodland canopy. Epic, mournful odes about how life beyond the city’s outskirts can be just as brutal as any found within its borders - as previously examined throughout their career. Brett and the boys tiptoe into a new, twilight, ethereal world - digging deep into their sound and producing some truly wonderful moments. Takes a few listens to bring you down to its level - but one for when you’re alone late at night with headphones on and you need someone to listen. This album is all ears.
